This disorder results from  transpalcental passage of maternal TSIs

The clinical manifestation in neonate ma masked for several days until the short lived effect of trasplacental maternal anti thyroid medication wear off , at which time the effect of TSIs are observed

·       irritability

·       Tachycardia

·       Polycythemia

·       Craniosynostasis

·       Bone age advancement

·       Poor feeding

Failure to thrive are the clinical hall marks

This condition maybe anticipated if the mother os known to be thyrotoxic  in pregnancy so that timely therapy can be offered.

Treatment

Orally

Propranol 2-3 mg/kg/24h

Propylthiouracial 5mg/kg/24h
